Terms & Conditions

Use of Monongalia County Released Inmates means acceptance of these terms. A visitor who does not agree should stop using the site and its search features. These conditions apply to the private reference pages, outbound links, and partner tools made available through the site.

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners is a consumer reporting agency or offers an FCRA-covered service.

Nature of the Website

Monongalia County Released Inmates is not part of a sheriff's office, jail, court, corrections department, parole agency, or federal bureau. It stores no official custody or release records and cannot confirm status, release a person, file a request, or change agency data. It points readers toward Monongalia County, WVDCR, court, VINE, and federal resources and may connect visitors with outside research tools.

Acceptable Use Rules

Visitors must use the site in a lawful way that respects other people, public systems, and site operations.

  • Do not violate any law or court order.
  • Do not stalk, harass, threaten, or impersonate another person.
  • Do not attempt unauthorized access to the site or another service.
  • Do not run automated scrapers, bots, or bulk extraction tools.
  • Do not disrupt availability, security, or another visitor's use.
  • Do not use information for a prohibited FCRA purpose.

FCRA Use Is Prohibited

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It supplies no consumer reports, credit reports, or background-check service. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a screening service. Visitors agree not to use content or linked results for employment decisions, tenant or housing screening, creditworthiness, insurance pricing or eligibility, licensing, permits, public-benefit eligibility, or any other decision governed by the FCRA.

Links and Outside Services

Links may lead to release records, WVDCR, the Sheriff's Office, courts, BOP, legal resources, and third-party search providers. A link does not endorse the destination. The site does not control outside content, data handling, prices, results, security, or uptime. Visitors should review each provider's own terms before using it.

No Warranties

The site and all content are supplied “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, no warranty is made that information is accurate, complete, current, fit for a particular purpose, available without interruption, free of bugs or security flaws, or matched by complete partner-search results. Custody and court records change. Nothing here is an official statement from Monongalia County or another public body.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its owners, contributors, and partners are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from use of the site, inability to use it, reliance on content, or use of an outside service.

User Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold the site, its owners, and its service partners harmless from claims, losses, costs, and reasonable legal fees caused by that visitor's use, unlawful conduct, violation of another person's rights, or breach of these terms.

Ownership of Site Materials

Unless a source states otherwise, original text, design elements, graphics, logos, and code belong to Monongalia County Released Inmates or its content partners. They may not be copied, republished, distributed, sold, or modified without written permission. Government records and linked agency materials remain subject to their own rules.

Updates to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision takes effect when posted. Continued use after publication means the visitor accepts the updated version.

Suspension of Access

Access may be limited, suspended, or ended at any time, with or without notice, when needed to protect the site, enforce these terms, respond to misuse, or comply with law.

West Virginia Law

These terms are governed by the laws of West Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that must be filed in court shall be brought in a court of proper jurisdiction within West Virginia.

Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable where the law permits.

Questions About the Terms

Questions about these terms can be sent through the Get in Touch page. That route does not contact a government office or provide official custody help.
